Sarnia-Lambton officials hope Toronto's traffic pain can be their gain.

The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership created a website called www.ihatetraffic.ca (http://www.ihatetraffic.ca/) in hopes of luring to their area retired Torontonians who are sick of the big city's traffic congestion (http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/2011/11/21/f-traffic-congestion-lamb.html).

The economic partnership advertises the Sarnia-Lambton community during morning traffic reports in the GTA, directing weary drivers to the site.

There, they find in a car's windshield the view of a winding road on the Lake Huron with no traffic on it. And a rear-view mirror shows a congested highway.

George Mallay of the economic partnership, said he hopes the constant reminder of the traffic and high housing costs in Toronto will convince people to head to Sarnia-Lambton.

"Some of those people, like the retires, can come here and take advantage of the lower-income houses because a lot of people have been hit hard in the GTA because of the market meltdown," Mallay said.
